Egypt's National Planning Institute Launches Region's First Digital Master's in Monitoring and Evaluation

The National Planning Institute (NPI) has officially announced the start of studies for the first cohort of its Digital Professional Master's program in Monitoring and Evaluation. This program is truly a first of its kind in Egypt and the wider Middle East, offered through a fully integrated digital model. It's a strategic move aimed at boosting professional education and strengthening institutional capabilities in planning and public policy-making. Meeting the Need for Qualified Professionals The launch of this program comes as a direct response to the growing demand for skilled professionals who can design and manage effective monitoring and evaluation systems, measure performance, and analyze the impact of various policies and programs. The goal is to make public resource management more efficient and to improve evidence-based decision-making across both government and private sectors. Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, Head of the National Planning Institute, emphasized that this program is a practical step forward in developing applied professional education. He highlighted the Institute's commitment to building institutional capacities based on real-world needs. Dr. El-Araby also noted that the strong interest in the program shows a growing focus on improving performance measurement and policy analysis tools, especially with the ongoing shift towards digital transformation and better governance. Selectivity and Rigor to Ensure Quality The program saw significant interest from applicants, with 514 individuals from diverse professional and academic backgrounds applying. They went through a thorough evaluation process, including initial screening and personal interviews to assess their professional competence and analytical skills. After this rigorous selection, only 80 students were accepted, resulting in an acceptance rate of 19.2%. This clearly shows the Institute's dedication to applying selective standards to guarantee the quality of the educational process and its outcomes. Diverse Geographic and Professional Representation The program attracted students from 16 governorates. Greater Cairo, specifically Cairo and Giza governorates, had strong representation, making up about 31.5% of the students. The remaining students came from the Delta, Upper Egypt, Alexandria, and the North Coast. Data also revealed remarkable professional diversity. Professionals working in the government sector make up 47.5% of the students, while the private sector accounts for 25%. There's also representation from civil society and funding organizations. Women comprise 53.8% of the accepted cohort, and those aged 40 and above make up about 55.1% of the class, highlighting a notable presence of executive and leadership experience. An Interactive and Advanced Digital Model This Master's program is delivered in an interactive digital format that blends scientific foundations with practical application. It focuses on building performance indicators, designing results frameworks, preparing evaluation studies, and using quantitative and qualitative analysis tools, along with modern data technologies. The program aims to prepare professionals who can improve the efficiency and developmental impact of programs and projects, ultimately enhancing institutional performance across various sectors.
