Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), warmly welcomed Dr. Faraj Khalil Salem, Libya's Minister of Technical and Vocational Education, and his distinguished delegation at the Academy's Smart Village campus. The visit aimed to explore exciting new ways to boost cooperation in technical and vocational education.
The Libyan delegation included Dr. Nasser Suleiman Al-Aqouri, Head of the National Academy for Graduate Studies for Technical Education; Dr. Ali Salem Al-Sahouli, Academic Advisor to the Minister; Jibril Mohammed Al-Maadani, Advisor and Director of the Minister's Office; and Mohammed Omar Al-Zawi, the Ministry's General Financial Controller.
Representing AASTMT at the meeting were Dr. Alaa Abdel Bary, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research; Dr. Mona Fouad, Academic Dean of the Smart Village branch and Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology; Dr. Yasser Al-Shami, Dean of the College of Language and Media; Dr. Ahmed Al-Rawas, Dean of the College of Management and Technology; Dr. Saleh Issa, Dean of Student Affairs; and Dr. Aya Al-Jarhi, Dean of the International Transport and Logistics Institute.
During their visit, the Libyan delegation got an up-close look at the Academy's latest achievements and its impressive international accreditations. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar gave a detailed presentation, highlighting the Academy's various branches and the diverse academic and professional degrees it proudly offers.
The meeting culminated in a significant moment: the signing of a joint cooperation agreement between Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar and Dr. Nasser Suleiman Al-Aqouri. This agreement is all about working together to offer professional postgraduate degrees, opening up new opportunities for students.
Following the initial meeting, Dr. Alaa Abdel Bary took the Libyan delegation on a tour of the Academy's main campus in Alexandria. There, they were greeted by a welcoming team from various departments, including Dr. Nasser Al-Maghraby, Dean of the Institute of Basic and Applied Sciences; Dr. Khaled Al-Kilani, Dean of the Industry Service Complex; Dr. Shireen Youssef, Head of the Computer Engineering Department; and Dr. Nahla Zagzoug, Head of the Electrical Engineering and Control Department.
The Alexandria tour was packed with interesting stops, including the Planetarium Center, the Integrated Simulators Complex, the Industry Service Center, and the state-of-the-art laboratories of the College of Engineering and Technology, covering departments like Construction and Building, Industrial and Management Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering and Control. They even visited the solar power station!
Dr. Faraj Khalil Salem, for his part, expressed how truly impressed he was by the Academy's educational and technical capabilities. He described AASTMT as a unique and shining example of successful joint Arab cooperation.
He also excitedly announced plans for a comprehensive twinning program with Libya's National Academy for Graduate Studies for Technical Education. The goal is to develop fantastic joint programs and certifications that will truly strengthen academic cooperation between both sides.
