Jumia, the e-commerce services company, has announced that Lionel Mobi will be taking over as the new CEO for its Egypt operations. He's stepping in for Abdel Latif Alma, and this move really shows Jumia's commitment to boosting growth and expanding its business in the Egyptian market. This appointment comes with Mobi bringing over ten years of experience within Jumia. During his time, he's held several leadership roles in key African markets like Cameroon, Ghana, and Senegal, which has really built up his operational and management expertise across the group. Most recently, since December 2024, Mobi served as the B2C CEO for Jumia Egypt. In that role, he led important strategic initiatives focused on making products more widely available and improving the shopping experience for customers all over Egypt, which helped strengthen the platform's presence in the local market. Before that, he was the CEO of Jumia Senegal, where he focused on making operations more efficient and achieving strong operational growth, all part of the company's strategy in African markets. In his new role, Mobi will be fully overseeing Jumia's operations in Egypt. His main goals will be to speed up growth, make the customer experience even better, and expand access to e-commerce services across all governorates. He'll also be working on strengthening logistics capabilities and digital payment solutions. Lionel Mobi, the new CEO of Jumia Egypt, shared his excitement, saying, "We're entering a new and really important phase for Jumia in Egypt. Our focus is all about bringing e-commerce closer to customers everywhere in the country. We'll do this by making it easier to access, boosting our logistics capabilities, and offering a smoother, more reliable shopping experience." He added that the Egyptian market is one of the group's key strategic markets, emphasizing that they will continue to build on the strong foundations laid over the past few years. In the same announcement, Jumia also extended its thanks to Abdel Latif Alma for all his hard work and contributions during his time in the role, which really helped strengthen the company's presence in the Egyptian market. Jumia Egypt continues to play a central role in the group's overall strategy. It's backed by a growing customer base and expanding partnerships, along with ongoing investments in logistics and fintech. All of this supports Jumia's plans to grow even further in one of the region's biggest e-commerce markets.
