JetBrains, a company known for its smart software development tools used by over 15 million people worldwide, has just announced the launch of its open system for AI agents in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This big step aims to speed up how businesses adopt AI, moving it from small experiments to widespread use across entire organizations.
This launch comes at a time when companies are increasingly relying on AI solutions in their software development. Tech teams are shifting from using traditional smart assistants to independent AI agents that can handle tasks on their own. However, this shift isn't without its challenges, including fragmented workflows, high operating costs, weak governance, and some tools struggling to understand the full context of software projects.

Nadia Rinsky, JetBrains' Head of Market Development for MENA, explained that businesses still face hurdles with AI adoption, especially concerning governance and the sheer number of different tech tools available. She highlighted that JetBrains' strategy in the region focuses on offering open solutions that deliver real value and a strong return on investment.
She added that the company wants to empower organizations to adopt AI agents gradually and flexibly, without being tied down to closed systems, all while maintaining high levels of reliability and operational transparency.

JetBrains also unveiled a suite of new solutions, including "JetBrains Air," "Junie CLI," and "JetBrains Central." These tools are designed to help organizations move from just experimenting with AI to actually putting it into practice within their work environments.
"JetBrains Air": An Agent-Based Development Environment
The "JetBrains Air" platform offers a complete development environment powered by AI agents. Its goal is to boost the efficiency of development teams by automating tasks, organizing workflows, and fostering collaboration among agents within a single environment.
This platform allows multiple AI agents to run simultaneously, including models like "Claude," "Codex," "Gemini CLI," and "Junie CLI," all within a unified workspace. It also provides the flexibility to distribute and manage tasks in parallel.
The platform uses isolated execution environments within secure containers, which helps protect data and ensures that code outputs are reviewed within the full context of projects. It's also built on an open protocol, allowing for flexible integration of various agents, with plans to launch a dedicated protocol registry to enhance scalability.
"Junie CLI": An Independent Software Agent
"Junie CLI" is an independent software agent designed to work outside traditional development environments. It has a deep understanding of software projects and can interact with automation systems and APIs.
This tool leverages over 26 years of experience in developing programming environments, giving it the ability to accurately analyze programming context, including code, commit history, and changes within projects.
It also supports multiple language models through a "Bring Your Own Key" system. This gives organizations the flexibility to choose models and manage data, while also improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and cutting down on what's known as "technical debt."
"JetBrains Central": Enterprise Governance and Management
The company also introduced "JetBrains Central," a platform designed to strengthen the governance of AI use within organizations. It provides a unified view for managing costs and consumption, and links AI operations to actual operational systems.
This platform allows organizations to monitor the performance of AI agents and manage their interactions with sensitive systems and intellectual property rights. This helps ensure compliance with security and governance requirements and boosts the efficiency of spending on AI technologies.
Furthermore, the platform offers an advanced management mechanism that goes beyond traditional pricing models. It links the actual usage of infrastructure to operational results, helping technology and finance teams optimize their AI investments.
