Ibrahim Nawar: Early Learning and Mentorship Are Key to Reducing Startup Losses

Ibrahim Nawar, CEO of Sabeeka, highlighted that early learning and understanding the fundamentals of building companies are among the most crucial factors for entrepreneurs to reduce the likelihood of failure. He strongly emphasized the importance of seeking help from mentors and consultants at various stages of project development.

Nawar shared on his LinkedIn page that during his participation in a Ramadan council, he received many questions about entrepreneurship. However, two main questions really stood out during the session. The first was: How can an entrepreneur protect themselves from failure?

He explained that the answer lies in learning before you have to pay the price for mistakes. He added that while failure can be a natural part of the entrepreneurial journey, its chances can be significantly reduced by gaining knowledge and understanding effective company-building methodologies.

Nawar pointed out that many entrepreneurs start their projects driven purely by enthusiasm, without having enough knowledge about the basics of establishing companies and managing innovation.

He drew attention to the importance of reading "The Lean Startup" by Eric Ries. This book introduces a methodology that focuses on quickly testing ideas in the market and learning from customer feedback before investing a lot of time and resources into building a complete product.

He added that this approach helps entrepreneurs gradually develop their products based on actual market needs, rather than risking building an entire project that might not find real demand.

To support practical learning, Nawar announced that a training course he offers on the Udemy platform would be available for free for a limited time. This initiative aims to help those interested in entrepreneurship learn the basics in a hands-on way.

The second question raised during the session was whether an entrepreneur truly needs consultants or mentors. Nawar affirmed that having mentors is a vital component in the journey of building companies. He noted that many leading entrepreneurs worldwide have relied on consultants throughout their professional careers.

He referenced the book "Trillion Dollar Coach," which tells the story of the famous coach Bill Campbell, who mentored numerous Silicon Valley leaders.

Nawar also mentioned that the late Steve Jobs, one of the global giants of entrepreneurship, also depended on consultants and mentors during his career. He explained that an entrepreneur often sees the project details from an internal perspective, while a consultant can offer a broader, more objective view.

Ibrahim Nawar concluded by emphasizing that just one timely piece of advice can save an entrepreneur years of costly mistakes and experiments.
