Google Powers Up New Data Centers with Green Energy and AI

Google has taken a significant step to boost its growing data center capabilities! They've signed separate agreements with two American energy companies, AES and Xcel Energy, to provide power for their new centers in Texas and Minnesota. This move is all part of Google's mission to secure reliable and cleaner energy sources as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications continues to soar. The agreement with Xcel Energy focuses on supplying Google's new data center in Pine Island, Minnesota, with a whopping 1,900 megawatts of clean energy. This impressive total includes 1,400 megawatts from wind power, plus an additional 200 megawatts from solar energy, and 300 megawatts from long-duration energy storage systems. Google has assured everyone that this project won't increase costs for current subscribers, as the company will cover all operating expenses for the new data center. On top of that, Google will invest $50 million to build a battery network across the state. Meanwhile, the deal with AES in Wilbarger County, Texas, is a long-term contract spanning 20 years to power data centers. This partnership also involves creating the necessary infrastructure to generate energy right on-site. This setup will allow Google to expand its operations and keep up with the ever-increasing demand for the company's essential services.
