Egypt's microfinance sector is really booming! By the end of March 2026, total microfinance balances hit an impressive EGP 108 billion. Plus, financing for small and medium-sized businesses reached EGP 25.3 billion, showing strong and continued growth across the sector.

Egyptian Federation Reports: Microfinance Soars to EGP 108 Billion, SME Funding Hits EGP 25.3 Billion by March 2026

Dr. Hala Aboul Saad, Chairperson of the Egyptian Federation for Medium, Small, and Microfinance, shared some exciting news! She revealed that the total microfinance balances provided by the Federation's members climbed to about EGP 108 billion by the end of March 2026. This is a nice jump from approximately EGP 105 billion during the same period last year, showing a healthy 3% growth rate. Even better, over 4 million clients have benefited from this financing! Dr. Aboul Saad also mentioned that the NGOs and civil institutions, which are members of the Federation and licensed by the Financial Regulatory Authority, injected EGP 23.4 billion in financing for 1.6 million clients by the end of March 2026. This is a solid increase compared to their financing portfolio of EGP 22.1 billion, which helped 1.765 million clients during the same time in 2025.
