Egypt Unveils 'The Spine': A Groundbreaking AI-Powered Smart City Project

Hisham Talaat Moustafa, CEO and Managing Director of Talaat Moustafa Group, shared that "The Spine" project is a game-changer for smart cities. It's designed to fully rely on Artificial Intelligence for managing and developing all its parts, making it the first city of its kind in Egypt with such advanced digital integration. He explained that the project's investments will exceed 1.4 trillion Egyptian pounds, with a paid-up capital of 69 billion pounds. He also highlighted that the project will create around 55,000 direct jobs and over 100,000 indirect jobs. This huge undertaking is a partnership between Talaat Moustafa Group Holding and the National Bank of Egypt, and it's being built within Madinaty, covering an area of 2.125 million square meters. This exciting announcement came during a press conference held today, attended by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister. Hisham Talaat Moustafa added that the project is built on a cutting-edge digital infrastructure that places AI at the heart of its operations and management. This will create a flexible and quick-to-establish business environment, seamlessly blending living, working, and entertainment. He noted that the city is designed to be an iconic global destination, combining modern housing, finance, business, and innovation within a self-learning smart system. He pointed out that "The Spine" represents an advanced model of what's known as integrated knowledge cities. It's transforming from just an urban space into a smart entity capable of interacting and evolving with its users. He also mentioned that it will feature an underground road network, which is one of its unconventional, futuristic design elements.

Project to Create 155,000 Job Opportunities

For his part, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, emphasized that this project is one of Egypt's largest development initiatives, with investments surpassing 1.4 trillion EGP. It's expected to generate over 155,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, along with tax revenues exceeding 800 billion EGP. He added that the project truly reflects investors' confidence in the Egyptian economy and boosts Egypt's standing as a regional hub for integrated financial, administrative, and commercial cities. He noted that launching it now shows Egypt's ability to attract massive investments, even amidst global geopolitical challenges. The Prime Minister also clarified that the project includes major tourism and service components, such as over 3,500 hotel rooms, which will significantly support Egypt's tourism and service sectors. Madbouly concluded by affirming that Egypt is experiencing rapid investment momentum across various sectors, with a continuous flow of major projects. This reinforces the country's economic growth trajectory and underscores its success in navigating global challenges with stability and resilience.
