Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) has announced the development of a smart new application called SoulPing Care. This app aims to boost the safety and well-being of seniors living alone, and also helps families keep an eye on children and those with health conditions that could lead to emergencies needing quick action from family members or caregivers. Dr. Mohamed Saleh, Dean of the Faculty of Business Technology at EUI, highlighted that many countries around the world are seeing a significant increase in the number of elderly people, a trend known as societal aging. He explained that globally, over 600 million people are seniors, while in Egypt, this number ranges between 6 and 9 million, with about 20% of them using smartphones. Dr. Saleh clarified that these figures really show the amazing opportunities modern informatics offers to create innovative solutions that support senior safety and improve their quality of life, all while keeping their independence and privacy intact. He noted that the SoulPing Care app is a great example of using technology to provide smart, indirect monitoring tools.
