Egypt Invites US Investors to Boost Smart Real Estate and Data Centers

Egypt is moving quickly to attract American investments in real estate technology and data centers. This is all part of the country's plan to boost its digital economy and bring modern technologies into the local market. To make this happen, Dr. Mohamed Farid, Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, met with Ryan McLaughlin, the CEO of Virginia REALTORS® (NVAR). They discussed ways to expand their partnership and bring American expertise to Egypt. This includes developing smart buildings, managing advanced real estate projects, and setting up and running data centers. During their meeting, they had extensive discussions about learning from the US experience in blending technology with the real estate sector. This covers smart city solutions and digital infrastructure, especially with the growing global demand for data services and the expansion of the digital economy. The Minister highlighted that Egypt offers exciting investment opportunities, backed by an unprecedented boom in urban development. He pointed out that new cities and investment zones are ready for unique projects, and there's plenty of prepared land and advanced infrastructure to meet investors' needs. He added that Egypt's strategic location, its connection to submarine cable networks, and its growing renewable energy projects all help it become a regional hub for data centers and advanced logistics services. For their part, the American delegation showed clear interest in the Egyptian market. They plan to invite American developers and investors to explore the available opportunities, especially in smart real estate and digital infrastructure. Both sides agreed to organize promotional tours in the United States to showcase investment opportunities in Egypt. They also discussed working with the Export Council for Real Estate to share data and expertise, with the goal of signing a Memorandum of Understanding soon. Finally, they also agreed to arrange a field visit for the American delegation to Egypt. This visit will allow them to see major national projects, new cities, and logistics zones firsthand, which will further support efforts to attract more foreign direct investments.
