Germany's "Invest for Jobs" initiative has just announced a new competitive round of applications in Egypt! This is a fantastic opportunity for companies, public institutions, and non-profit organizations to get co-financing grants ranging from 800,000 to 10 million Euros. The goal? To support investment projects that create new job opportunities and boost the skills of technical professionals in the Egyptian market. The initiative clarified that applications are open until June 30, 2026. This round will specifically focus on projects that directly contribute to creating sustainable jobs within Egypt's private sector, aligning with the "Job Creation" pillar, which is a key focus for the initiative. What's more, the initiative also offers optional additional grants for training activities. These grants aim to improve the quality of training and build the capabilities of local talent, with the exciting possibility of providing future employment opportunities for these skilled individuals in Germany! To qualify, projects must contribute to creating new jobs, and the investment proposals should not have been implemented yet. Strong opportunities for operational and financial sustainability are also a must, along with a financial contribution from the applicants towards their projects. The "Job Creation" pillar aims to support investments that promote sustainable employment. This includes investing in production facilities, equipment, skill development, and workforce training programs linked to the projects. The initiative has outlined four main categories for projects eligible for co-financing: Non-profit projects (non-revenue generating) can receive up to 90% funding. Non-profit projects (revenue-generating) can receive up to 75% funding. For-profit projects that rely on a third party to provide jobs can receive up to 35% funding. For-profit projects that directly provide jobs can receive up to 25% funding. In its 2026 cycle, the initiative also added the possibility of obtaining additional funding for training activities. This is to enhance the quality of vocational training and meet the needs of the Egyptian labor market, while also opening up potential job opportunities in Germany. The targeted sectors include construction, metal and electrical industries, education and social services, food manufacturing, transport and logistics, information technology, the health sector, and hotels and hospitality. Eligible activities include establishing and developing training facilities, such as classrooms and workshops, in addition to implementing specialized training programs covering technical skills and language education. These must align with labor market needs, with priority given to projects that focus on this aspect. The initiative explained that the evaluation will happen in two stages: it starts with assessing concept notes, then qualified projects will be invited to submit detailed proposals before the final projects are selected. Online introductory webinars are scheduled during the application period on April 23, May 7, May 21, and June 11, 2026. These sessions will clarify application requirements, selection criteria, and how to use the application platform. This initiative is part of a funding mechanism implemented by the German Development Bank KfW on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It falls under the "Decent Work for a Just Transition" initiative, aiming to support job creation and promote sustainable economic development in partner countries.
