Egypt's Investment Minister: AI Tech is Boosting Our Farm Exports Globally!

Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, joined an inspection visit to the "Al-Sawaf" station for packing citrus and agricultural produce. This was part of a larger field tour led by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, in the Benha Investment Zone. The tour also included the Minister of Industry, the Governor of Qalyubia, leaders from the General Authority for Investment, and several officials and company heads. Dr. Farid emphasized that using artificial intelligence to sort agricultural products significantly boosts the global competitiveness of Egyptian exports. He highlighted that the Ministry is especially focused on projects that integrate modern technology into logistics operations. This ensures Egyptian products meet the highest international standards and opens up exciting new opportunities in European and Asian markets. Mr. Ali Al-Sawaf, Chairman of the station's Board of Directors, explained that the project spans 5,280 square meters and has a daily production capacity of up to 250 tons. Its annual export volume reaches about 40,000 tons, valued at $20 million, with 75% of the produce heading to international markets. He confirmed that their production process relies on an advanced technical system, including AI cameras for precise sorting and sizing of fruits, ensuring the highest quality standards. The Minister also praised the station's social impact, noting that it employs 250 people. He specifically highlighted the strong representation of Egyptian women in this vital sector. Plus, having employees live close to the station helps ensure work continuity and boosts production efficiency. Dr. Farid concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the "Al-Sawaf" station is a fantastic example of how to maximize the added value of agricultural products. He reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to providing customs and logistical support to exporters through investment zones, with the ultimate goal of transforming Egypt into a leading regional hub for food packing and export.
