Amr Awadallah is a prominent tech entrepreneur and developer in the field of Artificial Intelligence, bringing over 30 years of experience in entrepreneurship, building large-scale internet systems, big data, and machine learning. He is known for founding and leading influential tech companies, and for his ability to transform innovative ideas into scalable enterprise products. He consistently focuses on bridging the gap between technology, product, and business, and on building high-performing teams. Currently, he serves as the Founder and CEO of Vectara. He has guided the company from its inception to successful market operation by developing the Vectara Trusted Agent Operating System. This system is built on Agentic RAG technologies, multimodal retrieval, real-time governance, and the detection and correction of hallucinations in AI models. Vectara has successfully gained traction with major enterprise clients and earned recognition from Gartner in its Emerging Markets reports. The company has also raised $54 million in funding and built a team of approximately 50 specialists. Its open-weight model for hallucination detection has achieved over 5.5 million downloads on the Hugging Face platform. Before Vectara, Amr held the position of Vice President of Developer Relations at Google Cloud. He was also the Founder and Global CTO of Cloudera, and served as Vice President of Engineering at Yahoo, where he founded APTVIA, a company later acquired by Yahoo. Amr Awadallah is considered a pioneer in building large-scale data and AI systems, and he holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He is known for his passion for developing responsible and enterprise-applicable AI technologies, and for his continuous commitment to supporting developer communities, sharing knowledge, and fostering the next generation of leading tech companies. Amr Awadallah, an Egyptian-American-Saudi born in October 1970, earned his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1992 from Cairo University, followed by a Master's in Computer Engineering in 1995 from the same university. He then completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2007.
