Amazon Services Back Online After Brief US Outage Affects Thousands of Shoppers

The services of e-commerce giant Amazon are mostly back up and running after a sudden outage affected tens of thousands of users across the United States, temporarily disrupting online shopping.

According to data from technical outage tracking websites, the issue began during the afternoon hours on the US East Coast. Many users reported difficulties accessing the site or completing purchases. Outage reports peaked at over 22,000 before gradually decreasing as service was restored.

Over the next few hours, the company's technical teams managed to largely resolve the problem. This led to a drop in reports to fewer than 2,000 cases, indicating that the site was back to normal operation for most users.

Amazon announced that it was aware of the issue some customers faced, confirming that its technical teams worked quickly to identify the cause of the outage and fix it to ensure service restoration as soon as possible. The company also emphasized its commitment to continuously monitoring its digital infrastructure to prevent any future disruptions.

This recent outage comes just a few months after a widespread incident affected Amazon's services in 2025. During that time, a technical glitch caused thousands of applications and digital services relying on the company's cloud computing infrastructure to go down, leading to disruptions across several digital sectors.

Additionally, some of the company's data centers have recently experienced operational issues in several regions. These issues had a limited impact on certain digital services linked to the infrastructure, highlighting the significant challenges major tech companies face in managing massive digital platforms that millions of businesses and users worldwide rely on.

These incidents really show the immense technical pressures global e-commerce platforms are under, especially with the continuous expansion of cloud computing services and digital applications. Any glitch—even a temporary one—can disrupt thousands of daily operations for millions of users. This makes managing technical stability and proactive updates a strategic priority for companies like Amazon.
