In a move that highlights the rapid shifts in the global technology market, Alibaba has announced a price increase for several of its cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) services. These prices will go up by as much as 34%, directly responding to growing demand and the rising costs of digital infrastructure.
These increases come at a time when the AI sector is experiencing an unprecedented boom, putting significant pressure on the operational and expansion capabilities of major tech companies. Alibaba explained that the price hikes will affect several of its core services, especially those related to high-performance processing, most notably its internally developed AI chips.
Among the most affected products are the "Zhenwu 810E" chips from Alibaba's T-Head unit, which will see price increases ranging from 5% to 34%, depending on usage and performance levels. The company also revealed a price hike of up to 30% for its parallel cloud storage service, with these changes set to take effect starting April 18, 2026.
